The History of Jack's Tackle
Established in 1945
Jack’s Bait & Tackle was established in 1945 on City Island in the Bronx by Big John's grandparents Jack and Rose.
Jack, who was a Marine in WWII returned home after the war to his wife and two daughters on City Island where they started the business together. At first, Jack took care of boat rentals while Rose worked the counter selling bait and tackle.
1960's
The Family Business is growing and moves from a small shop next door to its present location. Where a statue of The Sou'wester Man stood watch in the front window.
1970's
Big John starts working at Jack's at 10 Years old with Grandpa Jack & Grandma Rose
1980's -1990's
Big John & Carol get married and have 3 children John Ryan, Jackie & Josh
The next generations keep the family business going after Grandpa Jack & Grandma Rose pass away
2000's
Big John and sons John Jr. and Josh cod fishing on the Island Current out of Snug Harbor in Rhode Island.
Their daughter Jackie.
And now we added Work Boots Too.
71 years and Four generations later, still growing & going strong!
